T.M.Lewin Review – High Quality Mens Clothing

Without a doubt, T.M.Lewin provides mens top quality formal wear as well as casual wear. Well-maintained traditional style is absolutely trustworthy and, if you are desperate to look smart but don’t know how, get everything from T.M.Lewin and all will be sorted.

T.M.Lewin New Spring Collection – Menswear

I must mention of course Lewin has a range of womenswear too – about 2/3 of the stores in the UK hold womenswear section. Both men’s and women’s new collection’s out now, and I’d like to show you the menswear range – strikingly classy suits, shirts, shoes and accessories.

Suits

I’ve picked 4 pairs that I’ve actually seen in one of the high-street stores and liked.

All the Lewin’s trousers are 36″ in length. You can have it pre-adjusted for extra £9.75 according to your leg length, or have it done elsewhere once you’ve received & tried them on at home – that’s one of the great things about this store.

Above Left: Pall Mall Grey Mouline Weave 2-Button Slim Fit Suit

100% Italian wool is woven with yarns spun with 2 separate colours to create the Mouline weave. 290g in weight, ideal style for spring-summer. Double back vents, jetted pockets and flat-front trousers. £279. Looks like “just grey” in photos but you can really feel it’s good quality.

Above Right: City Navy Blue Stripe 2-Button Regular Fit Suit

This classic blue stripe suit – bit too conservative? It’s actually one of my favourites. It has button cuffs, melton under-collar and wide lapels, 100% wool and 255g in weight.

Above Left: Keates Air Force Blue 2-Button Slim Fit Suit

I’m not sure if it makes sense to say “stunning but subtle” colour – the 100% wool fabric feels really luxurious. 270g in weight, lock stitched mother-of-pearl buttons, and flat front trousers.

Above Right: Spitalfields Charcoal Sharkskin 2-Button Slim Fit Suit

275g in weight, 100% wool, woven into a smooth sharkskin fabric. Narrower lapels, lower buttoning and slanted jet pockets. And of course, flat front trousers.

Shirts

The quality of 100% cotton T.M.Lewin shirts is outstanding.

1. Poplin weave: traditional shirt weave with smooth, light and crisp feel.
2. Pinpoint weave: softer than poplin, smooth, light and crisp feel.
3. Twill weave: featuring a diagonal stripe effect makes it feel thicker, easy to iron and lasts very long.
4. Oxford weave: also feels thicker but crispier feel.
5. Herringbone weave: twill weave with the cotton threads forming a zigzag “herringbone” effect. Easier to iron and soft feel.
6. Marcella weave: for evening shirt, double-layered with the top layer incorporating a a classic “golf ball” effect.
7. Pleats weave: for evening shirt, poplin weave with a panel of pleats overlaid on the front.

There are 4 types of fittings as you may have guessed.

1. Fitted: I think fitted shirt style is the most popular now – unless you have a beer belly in which case you won’t be able to wear it (!) It’s tighter all around.
2. Regular Fit: traditional, comfortable generous cut.
3. Sli Fit: 4-6 inches smaller than regular fit and the waist is tapered giving a closer fit overall, so ideal for a bit more athletic body shape.
4. Super Fitted: extremely tapered for athletic and skinny body.

The new collection has either Fitted or Slim Fit.

Different collar styles to choose from are;

1. Classic: traditional style that suits with or without a tie.
2. Cutaway: wider, sharper and modern look, should be worn with a tie.
3. Button-down: with button and can be worn with or without a tie.
4. Wing: for traditional evening shirts, designed to wear with a bow tie.
5. Fully cutaway: worn with a tie, sharpest collar with wide points create a very modern look.
6. Tunic: traditionally worn by legal professionals with the collar studs.
7. Point: looks best with the shirt’s top button undone.

Lewin’s shirts are available in sizes 14.5″ – 20″, seven sleeve lengths (33″ – 38″) and single or double cuff options.

Shoes

OK amazing new shoes! Without exception, T.M.Lewin maintains its traditional styles. Classic Chelsea boots and Oxford brogues as well as the ones shown below;

Kelley Black Oxford Toecap Shoes

The shape and quality of these toecap shoes have to be my personal favourite. Leather sole and fully leather lined, calf leather uppers, anti bacterial heel cushion and rubber black heel, leather heel sock. 100% cotton flat waxed laces. Very contemporary toe cap oxford shoes.

Richmond Black Chukka Boots

Made from the finest calf leather, with a full leather in sock and a rubber sole, anti-bacterial heel cushion, flat waxed laces with extra pair of laces included.

Buckingham Black Loafers

Leather sole, fully leather lined with calf leather uppers, anti-bacterial heel cushion, leather heel sock and insole, rubber back heal. A little while ago I mentioned I was not a fan of tassel loafers – but I am certainly fond of pairs without tassels. They can go with a suit or casual styles, or without socks like Italian men do.

Jackets & Blazers

Left: Peck Navy 4-Pocket Jacket

100% Cotton jacket with funnel neck and padded body (lining 52% Polyester, 48% Viscose) keeps you warm and it has 4 front pockets. Great as casual outerwear.

Middle: Rickman Tan Casual Jacket

100% Wool, country-style tan check and jacket only. The tweed woven in Scotland, jetted internal pockets as well as exterior pockets.

Right: Lennon Navy Washed Jacket

Jacket only, 71% Italian cotton and 29% linen.

Free returns label will be provided in the delivery package, and if you’re not happy with the products they’ll make a refund with no charge.

T.M.Lewin asks you to try your shoes on a carpeted surface to avoid the soles scuffed. Shoes must be returned in the original condition including the box. If returned without a box, in a damaged box or with marked soles will not be accepted for a refund or exchange, they’ll be returned to you. So we need to be a bit careful, understandably. I think it’s reasonably fair, don’t you?
