Gay Parents Adoption – Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black

Gay parents adoption. Perfectly normal. End of story. It's been three years since Dolce & Gabbana infuriated Elton John by saying "children should be born to a mother and a father, an IVF treatment only creates synthetic children from rented uterus, semen chosen from a catalog.”

People across the world repeatedly debated over the issue from all types of points of view. D & G apologised, and we knew  that was when political correctness could go wildly crazy. You know, if you love a taste of meat, just simply say so, but say more with one word wrong and you could be labelled as an animal abuser.

Recently married couple, olympic medalist Tom Daley and award-winning screenwriter/film director Dustin Lance Black, is committed to adopt a child. Great news, good for them!

Then I saw PinkNews.co.uk calling for a petition "Same-sex parents deserve respect not ridicule", following the news "The shocking abuse aimed at Tom Daley over baby news should be a wakeup call for LGBT people". The news article says there's a "stunning amount of abuse directed at them, including death threats". But the news also refers to a recent Daily Mail column written by Richard Littlejohn titled "'Please don't pretend two dads is the new normal': RICHARD LITTLEJOHN says children benefit most from being raised by a man and woman"

Yup, that's bad. I signed the petition (see the bottom of this post). We should know by now that certain words and phrases are simply crucified without a question, whatever the reason behind may be.  On gay parents adoption - "Children should be brought up by a man and a woman." Of course this is a phrase to cause a stir.

But Mr. Littlejohn has some points. He starts the column by talking about an ultrasound scan. Because the column is all about it.

Whose is it? Not the baby, the womb.

The privacy may be protected and respected under whatever the surrogacy arrangement, except that they are two men patronising an image of a woman's organ with 'their' baby inside.  ...As if to imply that they're "treating women as mere breeding machines", in his words. "Call me a homophobe, I'll call them a pair of sexists."

Mr. Littlejohn's column is a "synthetic baby" all over again, I don't agree with him. But he's not entirely denying the idea of gay parents' adoption. His column is carefully worded (i.e. not controversial enough to be sued!), and as far as marketing strategy is concerned, Daily Mail got their victory again by receiving enough attention.

What angers me is these continuous homophobic cyber-bully trends..

"Die, fags."

No one should be allowed to say that. Cyber-bully should be strictly monitored in the first place and the offenders should be prosecuted, especially when a discriminatory word is used.

I did see these ugly threat comments on Tom's Twitter account. They've all been cleaned up now, and the tweeters' accounts would have been deleted or revoked access by now.

  1. I think the problem they have is they don’t have time to be so careful and always politically correct in every single comment they make or insta photo they post. it applies to any celebrities or influencer but someone like Tom Daley is so popular and he must be pressurising himself to keep posting daily photos or whatever in order to keep his fans satisfied. He seems to be a nice boy but too much publicity (what does he do for a living lol) and i don’t know much about his husband but they are making a beautiful couple and also now a baby for sure. Good luck to them and don’t care much about cyber bullies, it’s whats happening everywhere whatever you do. J
