Whatever the age group you are in, a healthy lifestyle makes you stronger physically and mentally. Balanced diet weight loss keeps you the sanity, polishes your sense of style and will improve your looks. I talked about fitness exercises the other day, and although exercising is important, it is hard to get the kit on, go out and work out if you haven’t for a long time. So the following are 9 tips to lose weight in 30 days without exercising.
1: Become A Good Cook
Take some time in the evening or over the weekend and try cooking everything from scratch. Stop buying ready-made meals, fast food or getting takeaways completely for the next 30 days. You need to know the ingredients in order to be able to cook your own meals, meaning you will learn how much oil and sugar you’re consuming. Naturally, you will start to use less fat and sugar, since you’re consciously trying to lose weight.
If you don’t think you’re ever a good cook – you know there are millions of online cookbook sites such as BBC Good Food. Google the name of the dish you wish to make and compare recipes in several sites. Recipes for one dish may vary – for example, one recipe may tell you to use 70g of flour with 2 eggs, whilst another one tells you 100g of flour with one egg. But don’t let it confuse you, they’re all created by proud chefs around the world, they’re probably all nice. Just choose a recipe you think is simple enough to try.
And most importantly, enjoy cooking. If you are willing to enjoy it and the food hasn’t turned out well, you’ll wonder what’s gone wrong and try to improve it next time, instead of giving it up.
2: Stop Drinking Fruit Juices and Eat Fruits Instead
It wouldn’t take you a few seconds to drink a glass of say, orange juice, which is made up of 3-4 oranges (depending on the size), but it would be a job to eat up 3-4 oranges at a time. It’s much healthier to eat oranges and take the fibre from the flesh. Don’t underestimate the amount of sugar that fruit juices contain – 250ml of white grape juice has as much sugar as 4 x Krispy Kreme doughnuts! So eat fruits, but stop drinking juices.
3: Eat A Lot Of Vegetables
Eat a lot of vegetables to take vitamins and minerals, eat raw as well as cooked. Leafy vegetables are full of fibre. Green vegetables generally contain a lot of vitamin C such as broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage.
4: Stop Drinking Alcohol Completely
If you are more than an occasional drinker, it’s difficult. But alcohol is an adverse effect on every count as far as weight loss is concerned. To list up a few;
- Alcohol stimulates appetite.
- Alcohol slows down your brain functions and your sense of balance, so to get your body back on the normal state, your brain craves more nutrition and tells you to eat even more.
- Alcohol is a depressant – demotivates your weight loss plan.
- Alcohol prevents your body from functioning properly, meaning it helps to burn your body fat less effectively.
So try stopping it completely for the next 30 days – and see how you feel.
5: Avoid Sugar
Try cutting down the amount of sugar – fizzy drinks, breakfast cereals, biscuits and sweets, put less sugar (or none) in your tea & coffee. If you can have artificial sweeteners and have no sugar fizzy drinks instead, that will be great.
6: Sleep Well
It’s important to have 7-8 hours of sleep every night because;
- Lack of sleep slows down your body’s metabolism / fat-burning mechanism.
- Staying up late likely to lead you to a late-night snacking.
- When staying up late out of necessity (e.g. study or work at home), you are tired and your brain tells you to “get some stamina to stay awake” – hence late-night snacking.
- Lack of sleep will weaken your determination to lose weight; you will lose concentration and not bothered to cook. Meaning you’ll likely to go for a fast-food again.
7: Eat Only Good Chocolate
Especially when you’ve stopped drinking completely, your body will crave for sweet, sugary food which is extremely hard to fight. It’s a good idea to give one permission to yourself; eat a small amount of good quality chocolate now and again. Chocolate that contains at least 70% of cocoa solids. Never otherwise. No salted caramel or strawberry cream, no other sweets or cakes. Good chocolates are more expensive for reasons; less sugar and far better in taste than cheap ones.
8: Become Calorie-Conscious
It is said that by strictly counting your calorie intake you will lose weight dramatically. While it may be true, it’s difficult to measure every spoonful of oil, every slice of vegetables and write it all down. But it’s definitely useful to be calorie-conscious at all times.
This may be controversial – but I have actually lost >7kg in the past by eating crisps (potato chips) instead of a dinner every night for a few weeks myself. It is an unhealthy diet and I wouldn’t recommend it, but an entire bag of low-calorie crisps was 300kcal, comparing to a plate of dinner which could amount to over 1,000kcal. The easy maths do make sense. Some may argue by mentioning the potato crisps’ high-fat contents, inferior quality of oil etc… But I actually lost weight simply by consuming fewer calories. Also because I wasn’t eating a big solid of food, my stomach shrunk at the time, started to eat less breakfast and lunch as well.
So, look at the meal in front of you and guess how many calories it has. Start checking what the food packages say. It will help.
9: Take Herbal Slimming Tablets
Slimming tablets certainly help you losing weight, but they can be harmful with side effects and potentially create a dependency. You can try vitamins for weight loss or herbal slimming tablets for a relatively short period.
“YouTrim” – Dual Action Weight Loss Pills & Fat Burners
Made with 100% natural ingredients that do not have side effects, contains;
- Green Tea extract acts as a powerful weight loss ingredient and is high in antioxidants
- Bitter Orange works to boost the natural process of turning fat into energy
- Green Coffee increases your metabolism and gives you more energy
- Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) is taken naturally from safflowers. This fatty acid is renowned for melting stubborn fat and lowering the overall body fat percentage.
Lastly…
If you strictly perform the above steps, you’ll definitely lose weight within the next 30 days. I hope these 9 tips will also help towards your long-term weight loss plan, to change your appearance and of course, to improve your overall health.

Hi, this is a great article and with a lot of easy to follow to tips on losing weight. For me personally it would be difficult to give up my glass of wine in the evening when kids fall asleep. I don’t do it every day, but still, even every other day is too much. Plus I see that after I finish my glass of wine I always get a bit hungry and have a sandwich just before going to bed. I’ll try to cut that habit! Thank you for sharing.
I can imagine it must be so difficult to give up a glass of wine – after an exhausting day looking after your children, you do need to relax! Me personally I had to completely give up drinking because of my addictive personality, but as long as you can control the amount of drink – and exercise – a glass of alcoholic drink or two (and a late-night snack or two!) wouldn’t affect your weight loss plan too much. Thanks for your comments!
Hi Raymundo,
Loved reading this article it well written balanced and provides greatt tips to losing weight the healthy way and in not some crazy crash diet fad system.
In terms of give up fruit juice, I’d say make your own, anyone who does nt is just plainly lazy – only takes 3 mins and all that is required is a blender and fresh fruit. far healthier than the added sugar version sold in supermarkets!
Hi Derek,Thanks for your comments, yes fresh fruit juices taste so much nicer and healthier than ready made sugar-added versions. Using a blender is better than using a juicer which take the pulp away, because the pulp is the part that contains fibre and fills up your stomach. And the risk of using a juicer, you tend to use a lot more fruits than a portion of fruits you can eat. You will consume a lot more nutritions, but you’ll also consume more calories. So as far as weight loss is concerned, biting & chewing fruits is better than drinking a fruit juice. Thanks again for dropping by Derek!Ray
Hi Raymundo,
I can certainly relate to this, as I get closer to 40 than 30 years of age I find it’s very easy to put on weight.
I love your trick of eating potato chips for dinner! Sometimes I have a yogurt instead of dinner, I know it’s got a lot of sugar but as you say less calories than a big plate of food overall.
What do you think about exercise? Does it have a place in weight loss or is it all about calories?
Thanks,
– Luke
Hi Luke,Thanks for your comments – yogurt instead of dinner sounds better than potato chips! I personally think exercising is essential in your weight loss plan. This page is only for those who are really reluctant to move their body at all, but in order to keep a decent body shape as well as maintain a strong heart, muscle and every function, I strongly believe you need to exercise frequently. I love my cardio exercise as well as weight lifting. I hope you agree, Luke. Thanks again for stopping by!Ray
Hi Raymundo,
Got some interesting tips here for weight loss. As you say, some are controversial but you do what you want to do to achieve a goal.
For long-term satisfaction regarding a healthy weight level, have you investigated the Eat Right 4 Your Type regime? This focuses not just on weight loss, which for some is gone fairly quickly. Rather, it helps the overall lifestyle changes that give us greater control of our weight as well as eating food that is compatible with our body chemistry
I would love to read a review of this regime after you have followed it for 3 months.
Regards,
Duncan
Hi Duncan,Thanks for your comments, especially about Eat Right 4 Your Type, it didn’t sound familiar to me but I just checked it and it’s about your blood type and their suitable food, right? I think I’ve heard of it and found it very interesting. I think when I found it, I couldn’t try it because I’m a vegetarian. Have you tried it yourself?Ray
Hi,
I agree with most of the points you provided except for the herbal slimming thing. I think if your follow just the 9, it would greatly impact your weight loss progress already. I believe this slimming products create dependency as you stated and they will create a massive rebound once you stop using them. Just my opinion based on experience. 😉
Thanks for your comment – slimming tablets can be dangerous even if they’re herbal. The product I’ve listed here however, I have tried myself and thought was great, as I lost my belly fat. But I do a lot of exercises and I stopped using the tablets after a month (I thought that was enough), so like you say, it depends how you control the intake, particularly in order to avoid the rebound.
Thanks again for your valuable opinion, I appreciate it greatly!
Ray
Those are some very good tips on loosing weight, and a lot of them are really easy to put into action. Just cutting out alcohol can make a massive difference. My biggest problem is snacking and these tips should help me. Exercise is important but I believe diet is just as important. Keep up the good work on this excellent website.
Hi Craig, thanks for your comment. My biggest problem is snacking too! It can be so easy to make a habit of it especially a food is available around you, e.g. biscuits in the office. I try to eat only healthy and low-calorie snacks and brush my teeth after snacking, so I don’t continuously munch. It seems to help.
Thanks again for stopping by.
