Make A Difference With A Vintage Style Suitcase

November 29, 2015

Choosing the right luggage is important especially for travelling abroad by plane. Those retro-style suitcases may be out of questions for you in terms of security and conveniences. Real vintage, wobbly leather cases can sometimes be forced open from the side. They don’t have wheels, so if you really wanted to use one for holiday abroad, you would likely to end up buying a folding metal carrier for it.suitcase-storage

But still, retro suitcases look good. There are thousands of medium-sized, brown suitcases available for reasonable prices, you’ll often find them in an antique market or car boot sale. Often used as storage on top of the wardrobe. But why not actually use one for a weekend getaway?

Yes, a suitcase without wheels is a little less convenient. But you have to carry it on a staircase anyway, you can’t drag it on those cobblestone-covered pavements, or la piazza/plaza in European countries either.

How about this one? It’s available from Amazon. With 4 x wheels and telescopic extendable handle, and size 58cm x 36cm x 21cm. Just under 1kg in weight, comes with number locks. It certainly looks different and would stand out on the baggage conveyer belt in the airport.

  1. i love sweet vintage suitcases, they are SO hard to come by too! and that suitcase is by far the coolest one Ive ever seen, seems like it came straight out of the 60’s! LOL

Now about that song at the bottom, is that you? Does this site promote new artists? So does mine!

    1. Hi Matt, thanks for you comments! Yes I’ve been looking for a suitcase that’s not metallic silver/blue/black for a while, and this is one that I found…

No the song’s very old actually, I should have put some explanation to it – Tom Wait’s song from 1977 (that’s showing my age!) – what’s your website, I’d like to have a look!

  2. Wow, your article is definitely a lesson of style 😀
I can’t say I travel a lot by plane, but I do by train, so do you think it would be a good choice to go for a vintage suitcase? I’m not completely sure, because with trains it’s a bit different, your luggage can get dirty or broken easily, as you always have to carry it yourself. But I think that if I take care of it properly, it would be a nice choice.

    1. Hi Ashley, thanks for your comment. Travelling by train, I definitely prefer to carry my vintage suitcase. At least it’s with me all the time! Whilst with a plane, your luggage will be thrown passed around through the security gates to the carriage compartment. Thanks for stopping by!
