Urine Therapy, Urotherapy, or Urophagia. I've known about it for many years and I know two people who are actually drinking urine for health purposes. Especially in the recent years more people seem to be willing to give the therapy a try. It's just indescribably hard for me to understand the psychology behind it. Urine is a body waste. An excrement. If you can drink your own piss, you can eat your own shit too, I take it? Next year Faeces Therapy comes in trend and you'll be eating your own what's-it just for the sake of health.

The two people I know - one of them tells me that whenever he feels run-down, he drinks half a small glass of urine in the morning and by lunchtime he feels uplifted. The other one is a girl friend of mine who's recently confessed she's been drinking her own urine every morning for years. I can only hope that the glass of coke she offered me when I was at her house was clean. Ewwwww.
Both of them say 'It doesn't take a couple of seconds to swallow. You don't actually taste it." Oh for sure! It wouldn't take a second to swallow a cockroach down your throat, either.
I'm not freaked out about it, I just want to understand the mentality of it. When I was single & free I let a few guys drink my pee during sex, that's understandable, right? If that's your sexual preference? And no, I'm not into that either. Golden Shower play, no. But when people choose to drink urine purely for the sake of health benefit, do they ever think of alternative methods? If they don't believe in chemicals or doctors and never rely on anything except natural remedies, yeah perhaps. But when their medicine cupboard is full of paracetamol, codeine and all sorts, what does drinking body waste mean to them?
Few Benefits Of Drinking Urine
Urine is 95% water, 1-2% of urea, less than 1% of sodium and chloride. The rest consists of tiny traces of chemicals such as potassium, sulphate, creatinine, as well as fatty acids, protein and carbs. Essentially these elements are produced and disposed by the body naturally, and for such a small dose per pee, it seems meaningless to re-consume them orally. Therefore the fact that the urine therapy is not scientifically proven seems to perfectly make sense.

The therapy has been around for centuries, and claimed to cure or prevent almost any illnesses in recent years, including cancer and AIDS. While the science has not approved the effect of it, it seems to have approved the safety of it. So the whole idea of drinking urine may be, perhaps, easily accessible by some people purely by trend.
Do We Need It? No.
The fact that the urine therapy has been used for centuries is not credible. Because (a) beliefs evolve. Cigarettes were once considered good for your lungs, you know. And (b) there were no alternatives in those days, obviously. When we have so many other options to keep ourselves healthy nowadays, why would we consider recycling a body waste for such a non-definitive results? Unless you find a pleasure out of the taste of urine - that's a whole different story - I think the idea of drinking urine for health purpose is just hideous and gruesome.
Faeces therapy lmao! I once had a bf who had a peculiar bo. Little did I know was he was drinking his urine every morning. I wouldn’t mind occasional water sports but that’s different. Our relationship lasted for 1 month. He stank. Sorry.
Hi John, thanks for ‘sharing your experience’! I guess you never know his BO was caused by drinking urine? (unless he smelled like urine)
