Best coffee makers for home should be reasonably compact and easy to operate. Ideally programmable, if you have more than one cup in the morning - unless you have a plenty of time to enjoy a manual grinding & brewing process.
"I'm a coffee addict." Is it a cool thing to say right now by any chance? I seem to encounter many people proudly say that. "I'm a blogger, mother of two toddlers, positive-thinker, I believe in reincarnation, and oh, I'm a coffee addict." Okay, do you know which ones are the best coffee makers for home? "No, I just have Starbucks's twice a day."
Nothing's wrong with that. But there are more benefits in brewing your own coffee using your own machine. You get to test a variety of coffee beans and enjoy each flavor to start with. It will be cheaper in the long run. You get to make your coffee in the way you actually want; stronger, more milk, more froth. They say a coffee temperature "should be between 155F - 175F" - but is that how you really want? You can find it out yourself!
Here is the most updated best coffee makers for home. I hope you'll find the most suitable one for you.

If you are a regular iced coffee drinker but have not owned a cold brew coffee maker, this is something you should definitely consider.

#34 AMFOCUS Stovetop Espresso Coffee Maker
Original Moka Pots have an aluminium body with bakelite handle. But some people don't like the pots made with aluminium because they can taste it, or they don't like the tatty look. So they go for 100% stainless steel.

This AMFOCUS stovetop coffee maker has a food-grade stainless steel body inside and outside, with a heat-resistant handle.

35 Best Coffee Makers For Home - The prices shown in this page are checked as of May 2018, but please note they can fluctuate depending on the availability.
Hi Ray, great list! I’m not a great coffee drinker but my wife is. I like my coffee with lots of milk or very frothy….or very icy frappe. The “Ninja” type looks great to me. Which one do you recommend the most personally? Thanks Ray!
Hi Fumi, thanks for your comment. If you like a milky coffee, the Ninja model is definitely for you because it makes a frothy milk by without using a steam, i.e. not diluting it. That’s what I would recommend to you, but personally I love any sorts of coffee and use different machines – espresso machine as well as Moka Pot, as well as a filter coffee machine…too many clutters in my kitchen, that’s the trouble!
Thanks again for your visit Fumi, I appreciate it.
I’m very particular about my coffee makers. I don’t like the taste of coffee that French press produces, in fact I don’t understand why French press should be part of the best coffee makers for home because I only see it served in a cheap hotel or office. I like my coffee filtered properly. But if some people prefer French press, perhaps that’s what it is.
Hi Jody, I’m on your site to be perfectly honest. I don’t love coffee from cafetiére. It’s super-easy to prepare and, as I mentioned in the post some coffee lovers swear by it. So I felt I couldn’t not include a french press make in the list – just one! Thanks for your comment, I appreciate it.
Hi Ray, I just buy a cheap coffee maker because my kids keep breaking the jug and it’s hard to find a replacement, or it costs as much as a new coffee maker. It’s ridiculous. My kids are 4 & 6 yrs old. When they grow up I’ll consider a decent machine. But I love your list. Thank you. Jane x
Hi Jane, I see what you mean. To me it’s our kettle and toaster – it’s not that we keep breaking them, they don’t seem to last very long. My partner & I got to the point about 3 years ago that there was no point buying expensive ones. We bought one of the cheapest set of kettle and toaster…ironically they’re still working perfectly after 3 years.
Another option for you is to get a stainless steel carafe – #1 is a grind & brew model, but there are many sorts of best coffee makers for home from Amazon that come with a stainless steel jug. Thanks for leaving a comment Jane, I appreciate it.
Hey, u r right about coffee pods wasting tons of plastic. if every1 is aware of recycling but I doubt it. Take ur convenience an help urself or help the environment more education is needed. Myself I like stove top or espresso I like strong coffee. J
Thanks Jan for sharing you thoughts, I appreciate it. I too prefer strong coffee and love making an espresso in the morning or do a stove top in the weekend morning. I hope you like the list. Thank you!
We are opening a small garden centre in Cornwall small village near Falmouth and are looking for a good expresso machine for commercial use. We don’t have agencies involved and buy all the settings ourselves and need your idea. Thank you.
Hi George, thank you for your query. Unfortunately as the title of the post suggests, all the coffee makers listed here are for home use. I see you are UK based and I have a friend who runs a café, he’s also set up his business without a help of agencies so I can ask him for you. I’m not an expert therefore my ability to search for good commercial espresso machines may be as good as anyone can be. But I will email you to let you know. Thanks for your visit.
Awesome selection thanks. I have my stove top coffee maker for more than 20 years and love the taste from it the most.
Hi Jean Paul, thanks for your comment. It’s great to hear that – I treasure my stove top coffee maker too, am using the same one for years & years. It produces a very rich, strong flavor and I love it. As well as my filter coffee maker and espresso machine. I alternate them to enjoy different outcome from the same beans. Thanks for your visit.
Hey. Good choice of coffee makers. Like you said in your post I’m one of the guys who are happy to get a daily takeout from a coffeehouse nearby. But yeah a machine will save money in a long term. Save time as well! Awesome post.
Hi Sacha, thanks for your comment. Yes, an automatic coffee maker allows you to program it before you go to bed (or any time). So if you have one minute to pour your coffee in the kitchen in the morning, you might want to consider getting one!
We have a very similar “space-maker” under the cabinet coffee maker in our kitchen. I didn’t like the idea of fixing something like that permanently but my husband managed to convince me and I must say, it is pretty good.
The only thing is that you should not have anything hot like a kettle or a toaster underneath obviously that would send a very hot air above, potentially melt the plastic part. I don’t recall it warned in its manual but it seems pretty obvious. I keep my other utensils underneath instead.
Hi Jo, thanks for sharing your experience. That’s a good point, because we’ve kept our toaster in the same corner on our kitchen worktop, and one day we noticed the bottom of the cabinet above had changed its colour – not as bad as ‘burned’ but darker. So as you say, the hot air can damage the coffee maker above in time. Thanks again for the good tips!
Great review of best coffee makers for home, thanks Ray!
I love coffee with lots of milk, so if I had to choose one from here I’d go for either one of the espresso machines or “Ninja” style.
Is it worth paying more than $200 on a coffee machine? I guess how often you use it per day?
Imran
Thanks for your comment Imran, yes the Ninja coffee maker is great if you want your coffee milky, because of the way it froths the milk. Whether it’s worth paying a lot of money on a coffee machine or not depends how much you love your coffee, or how seriously you want to make your every serving. Good machines generally last longer and come with a good service warranty – for example the coffee machine I’ve had in the past with 5 years extended warranty was over $600 but had an annual descaling service and I absolutely loved it (the model has been discontinued unfortunately). I hope you’ll be happy with your coffee maker that you choose. Thanks again for your visit!
I agree with what you say. I have a normal coffee maker, expresso machine, french press, and stovetop. Because they all produce different flavors from the same coffee beans and I want to enjoy the difference. You have awesome information about coffee makers. Well done and good luck. Nicholas
I’m exactly like you, Nicholas. I hope the list in this post will be of help in all-round way. Thanks for your comment!
Great page Ray. I thought you were talking about me, only get my coffee from a local coffee shop. Some day one day I’ll get my own coffee maker to make the perfect cup only for myself lol.
So the best 35, which one do you really recommend, Ray?
Martin
Hi Martin, thanks for leaving a comment. Which one is the best for you depends what kind of coffee you normally drink. If you like latte, you should be getting a espresso machine and just a cheap filter coffee machine can be a huge let-down for you. As I said in the post, you’ll save a lot of money if you currently take out a coffee daily, and you’ll get to enjoy different coffee beans too. Try it!
I bought a Jura espresso bean to cup machine a couple of years ago and it was a nightmare.
The water was leaking and we found a paddle of water three mornings in a row. We returned the unit and the replacement was even worse leaking more water.
Eventually we returned and got our money back. Another thing that annoyed us was the grinding noise that it produced. Since then we’ve bought another bean to cup machine which is not listed here but it’s as noisy therefore it’s hard for us to judge.
Overall my partner and I didn’t feel Jura was worth paying a lot of money for.
Hi Marcia, thank you so much for sharing your experience, and sorry to hear that you weren’t happy with Jura espresso machine. It does sound like a nightmare, and I take it the leak problem was with the manufacturer’s batch. Also goo to know about the noise problem, although I have researched (including Amazon) and didn’t find customers who purchased Jura machine and complained about the noise issue. It’s good for us to note, thanks a lot for your comment!
I love the selection, I like your other pages also. Ray. I like turkish coffee and I didn’t know there was a special coffee maker you can use at home. I’m glad to know.
Thanks for your comment, yes it’s a very popular model with marked with good ratings, I hope you’ll have a chance to try it. Thanks!
Good review. I appreciate there are many different coffee makers for home use. My daughter drinks at least 5 cups a day so I need to find out what kind of coffee maker is the best for her. Very useful site. Thanks.
Hi Syed, thanks for your comment. If she drinks 5 cups a day and she doesn’t have a coffee maker at home, yes definitely a good idea to get one for her! Thank you for your compliment too.
Firstly I must congratulate you for your lengthy, thorough post.
Unfortunately I was expecting something extraordinary, a coffee machine that nobody else owns, hidden gem of sort and could not find anything close from your list.
I have seen Bugatti before and I was expecting something similar but new to the market. Unfortunately it does not seem to be the case as yet.
I will come back in a few months to see if there’s an update.
Hi Febio, thanks for your comment. I see exactly what you mean. As soon as I find something new, unusual, colorful and spectacular like Bugatti coffee makers, I’ll update this page. I appreciate your thoughts, and thanks for the visit.
I have a question. Is there a machine that produces both espresso and normal filter coffee? Because I do enjoy both flavors whether Americano or very strong double espresso especially I need to work throughout the night. Thanks.
Hi June, thanks for your comment. To answer your question… You could simply add a hot water to my espresso to drink Americano, and a lot of cafes do too! So how seriously you want your coffee to be made, is up to you. I have a drip/filter coffee machine as well as a espresso/cappuccino machine separately, so that I can enjoy different types of flavors.
Hi Ray you have a beautiful site and I admire you. I like your coffee maker review, there are so many choices and I wish I can get them all. Best of luck! Thank you. From Kym
Hi Kym, thanks for your comment and compliment! I’m updating this page from time to time, so I hope you’ll find the best coffee maker for yourself. Thank you!
I like no. 32, for someone like me who loves iced coffee rarely drinks hot beverages and drive 400 miles per week this one will be perfect. I stop at a service station to get my coke so I don’t need a device like this just yet but will consider to save money.
Hi Jona, thanks for your comment. Asobu Coldbrew coffee maker sounds like a perfect kit for you, as I mentioned in the post, it will keep the iced coffee for up sto 24 hours. Something that you can prepare before you leave home, or before you go to bed. It will save your money for sure!
Moca pot is good but the bakelite handle snaps and it doesn’t last long.
Hi Dev, thanks for sharing your thoughts. I think I’ve experienced that too. The handle of my old Moca Pot eventually fell off, but I had used it for 10+ years so mine did last for a long time…
Wow, I have been looking for a coffee machine as a gift to my best friend who’s getting married next month, and you have a lot of items here. I don’t know which one to choose. Which one do you recommend the most please? Thank you from Kim
Hi Kim, thanks for your comment. Which one is the best one…depends on your budget. I’d love to recommend Bugatti Diva but it’s pricey. It depends what kind of coffee the newly wed likes, too. Do they like cooking, i.e. spending time in the kitchen? Then they’ll surely enjoy making espresso or latte, if they don’t have an espresso machine already. Syphon types are pretty stunning, they produce amazing flavors, for reasonable prices. Any more questions don’t hesitate to get back to me.
I own a pod only coffee machine (Nespresso) and it produces a beautiful coffee, both my wife and I enjoy it every morning, it’s so quick to make also. But I can say it’s not down to the machine, it’s down to what kind of flavor you like. i.e. where the coffee beans are from. Taste varies in great deal.
Hi Skyler, thanks for your comment. Yes it’s all true, a good coffee maker should be able to extract the best flavor out of ground coffee, but it’s of course the coffee beans from different parts of the world that you want to experiment until you find your match.
I have had 2 x grind & brew coffee machines in my life and both times the grinder broke while the coffee machine still worked. I’d prefer to buy them separately. Do you guarantee that these grind & brew listed here will last without breaking?
I prefer a coffee from a coffee shop to be honest. Saves time. Less clutter in the kitchen.
I prefer my percolator with lavazza coffee every morning xx
Thank you for the great post. I like my coffee machine and they all have a TPO. When there are many guests (4-5 or more) normal filter coffee machine makes a good amount of coffee in the morning. When there are 2-3 guests I tend to use a moca pot because it gives a really, really dense rich flavor and it’s my personal favorite. My partner likes his coffee frothy so on a daily basis I use my cappuccino machine. I rarely use a caffetierre because to me it makes a coffee bland but I have it.
Hi Taku, it’s funny you should say that, I’m just like you. I have all sorts and use them according to the needs and amount of coffee I need at a time. I know they’re making my kitchen busy but they’re all totally worth having. And I agree with you about cafetiere…it’s not my favorite and I no longer own one!
Good information of all round coffee makers. Good job. Some of them are not available in Canada and Mexico where I live, I need to get them when I next visit USA. Essential for coffee lovers like me.
Hi Poppy, thanks for your comment. Yes as you say, all the coffee makers in this page are primarily available in the USA and if you are a resident elsewhere, you should be redirected to another Amazon site as you click. I hope you’ll find the most suitable coffee machine(s) for you. Thanks for your visit!
Under the cabinet model looks good. Is it easy to instal? I’m a true coffee addict I drink more than 10 cups a day I need one that lasts for a long time.
It’s a very good list of coffee makers. Thank you. I don’t drink coffee myself but my husband is very fussy and picky. He does not like filter coffee and that’s my problem. He only wants in a very specific way and I need your help. My husband is making me very difficult to brew in different style each time. I only drink green tea the principle of brewing is totally mind blowing. I need to learn how to buy coffee beans and have been studying online but there is a limited information. Please help.
Hi, thank you for your review… I do not drink hot beverages and never used to like coffee. However cold press coffee maker changed my mind a few years ago. No. 32 sounds like the perfect item! It’s definitely going to be my Xmas list. Thank you 🙂
Thanks Sue for your comment. Asobu (No. 32) is my favorite, it extracts really good flavors and I thoroughly recommend it. For your Christmas wish list, perfect one.
Which one makes a coffee the fastest? I have little time in the morning between getting up and leaving the house for work. I need one that makes a cup of coffee within 2-3 minutes. Thanks
Hi Tyrell, that’s what a coffee machine with auto timer for. You can set it up before you go to bed, and let it start brewing 5 minutes before your alarm clock goes off. When you get up, go straight to the kitchen and your coffee’s ready to pour in your cup. Not an espresso machine type, obviously, if you want to froth milk!
Bugatti is the best designed coffee maker ever!
